Default Vale Wraith costume bad animation

I really hope they never make another costume like this, you have no legs but your still running arms pumping and its obvious that all they did was make the legs invisible.

It seriously makes an otherwise great costume look pretty bad if you move.
I have seen people change to look like the Mursat and they appear to float along that would be the perfect animation for this costume.

I wish I had checked before buying because I was assuming they would have changed the player animation or at least keep the arms still as you move.
Do you think there is any chance they can and will do something to improve this.

Yes I know its just a costume but hey its a fantasy game so maybe a little magic could be included in the costumes.

I noticed the problem with the animation as well. I just wear the Ravenheart witch costume and pretty much ditched the Wraith costume. You should float along the ground. My character still has her silly girly run and it looks ridiculous.

too bad, this could have been an awesome costume.

I do agree with the fact that the leg movement looks ridiculous, however...

Like you said, this is a "Costume", not a potion. A costume being something you wear, clothing, like masks/invisible pants/etc to change your appearance. As opposed to a Potion that actually makes you "Take the form of..." a certain type of creature/monster.

But yeah, it cheapens the effect.

That's a really good point and one I hadn't thought of. Nice response. The costume itself is great but the walking animation does make it laughable. I don't wear it as a result. Standing there looking moody, though, unbeatable.

They should have just given the Kinda of "Floating" affect to the Costume Like the El Mursaat or Destroyer(Some of them Float).

Floating creatures are animated so that they float. Humans do not float. Humans in costume are thus bound by the fact that they can not float. Animation is not such a simple matter that they can just give human models the animation from a Mursaat or Destroyer and expect it to give the desired effect.

Sigh I know but we can dream.

Thing is when someone dresses up for halloween say as a zombie they do not run they stumble along in an appropriate way.
If they dressed as a ghost they would try to give the effect of floating.

In gw we have one animation for moving and that is a full sprint so really when it comes to costumes its down to do not make the costume if you cannot add the appropriate animation.

I suspect the reason they didn't make it work like a mursat potion is that it would be like buying a permanent transformation potion.

How does the battle animation works with the vale wraith?

If it looks natural, then all we need to fix is to don't give the vale wraith a moving animation at all.

Otherwise, deal with it.

It's dependent on what prof. you are.

On casters it looks good, on melee chars like sins it looks really awkward.

The only way making the legs 'floaty' without making new rigs would be probably by detaching the legs parts and make it part of the torso, so it no longer moves along the legs.
But then many animations would look really awkward, like when sitting, the legs part would enter the ground.

I would propose, if ArenaNet can't give the suitable animations to make the costume look the way it should (ie dealing with the insible legs while running animations) then they should have invested their time and art budget into making a more suitable costume which would work better with the assets the game allows them to use. It's a waste to create a costume which just looks goofy when running when they could have made a second costume with a different appearance (aka with legs, hell even extending the robes to hide the legs would have worked better) to satisfy more people.

Most people I know with this costume hated the running animation. Please in future tailor the costumes to the animations and player character mechanics in the game. Halloween always seems to have one hit and one miss costume, this year I'd say the wraith was a miss.

Actually I think the costume in most need of help atm is the purity costume... clipping on at least fem ranger (this would then also be a problem on profs using the same model such as the war) is the worst clipping issue I have ever seen. Considering that the animation on this is not thaat big a problem imo.

Yes it could been better, I totally agree, but it could also be worse xD

IMHO all the costumes in general are pretty bad except the one with the pointy hat and push up bra but I'm still reluctant to buy it. They are just not worth what Anet charges.
